Experience and Interest Summary

Goh has been associated with University Science of Malaysia (USM) since 1990 as a tutor, researcher, lecturer and IT Consultant. He was also appointed as the IT Chairman at the Center for Languages and Translation, USM. In 2000, he joined Multimedia University (MMU) and was a founding Chairman of the Center of Excellence for Computer Languages (CCL). Currently he is a Associate Professor at the Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) from August 2002. Prior to his current appointment, he was Honorary Research Associate, Postdoctoral Fellow, Deputy Director for IIMLab (Intelligent Interactive Media Lab), Honorable member of the Centre for Enterprise Collaboration in Innovative Systems (CECIS), Research member for Murdoch University Research Excellence Grant Scheme (REGS-2006-07) at Murdoch University, Perth, Western Australia.

His research has been translated to commercial product called Multimedia University Mascot, Maybank Intelligent Customer Service, Intelligent Web TV and FrontX Technology. His main research interest is in the development of intelligent agent, natural language processing and speech technology to facilitate graceful human-computer interactions, conversational robot and mobile services. He is the author of more than 60 peer-reviewed scientific journal, books and conference papers. He has led and worked on research grants funded by Malaysian Government’s Intensified Research in Priority Areas and Malaysia Technology Development Corporation. He has worked as a consultant for private companies such as Maybank2u.com.my, CitySoft Technology Sdn Bhd, KRU Sdn Bhd., Advanced Research Technology Sdn Bhd. and Maya Artificial Intelligence Sdn Bhd. Besides gaining acknowledgement from international bodies like The American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), Agent AI Portal - The first Hungarian artificial intelligence (AI) and CogNews.com, he is also a chairman, editorial board, committee members, reviewer for international conferences and journal. He was also invited as a Keynote Speaker at the International Conference on eLearning for Knowledge-based Society 2005, Bangkok Thailand, Public Lecture at National Science Center 2004, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and as a Guest Lecture, invited by IEEE Western Australia Section. His invention called AINI - Artificial Intelligent Natural-language Identity has been recognized and awarded as the Best Individual Inventor 2004 by Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation (JIII), Gold Medal MINDS 2004 Awards at 15th International Invention Innovation Industrial Design & Technology Exhibition and was recorded in The Malaysia Book of Records as the 1st Malaysian Interactive Robotic Programme 2003. Cyberjaya.tv, the first Internet TV in Malaysia has worldwide viewers from 40 countries through the internet has invited Aini's inventor as a guest speaker on a live talk show called “Aini the Virtual Robot”.

He is a Fellow, Western Australian Institute of Dispute Management (WAIDM), member of IEEE Computer Society, Senior Member, Malaysia Senior Scientists' Association (MSSA), Member of Malaysia Invention and Design Society (MINDS), and Member of International Association of Engineers.
